Time-Sharing Arrangements to Consider

Florida judges allow divorcing partners to explore a wide variety of time-sharing arrangements, including the following:

  • Weekly exchanges, where children spend one week with one parent before switching off to the other.
  • Two-week exchanges, arrangements that allow for greater stability for the child while accounting for parents’ busier schedules.
  • 2-2-5-5 schedules, where a child spends two days with one parent and two days with the other. Children will then spend five days with one parent and five with another, with the pattern repeating every two weeks. There are variations of this plan available in 3-4-4-3 and 2-3-2 schedules.

Notably, these schedules do not account for holidays. You, your ex-partner, and our child custody lawyers can discuss how to account for holiday needs on an annual basis. We can also account for your children’s feelings as they change over time.
